Leave it to Matthew Stafford to buck the trend of a league-wide scoring collapse. While most teams saw their scoring totals decline (and I’m looking at you, Chicago), the Los Angeles Rams and Stafford had an incredible bounce-back week against the New York Giants. His four touchdown passes Monday night put him sixth on two…
The stars were out in full force in Week 2, with a couple of familiar faces making strong statements for early consideration for the major awards. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had another signature performance to open up the week, while Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams dialed back the clock and was dominant…
Two weeks into the season, a third team sits atop the charts. Honestly, after the Rams fell in Week 1 and the Ravens dropped in Week 2, it seems that the famed SI jinx and Madden curse have nothing on my Power Rankings. Things will get really unsettling if the new No. 1 loses at…
If Week 1 is a liar, Week 2 provided some truth serum for NFL teams — and some probably didn’t like the results. The Green Bay Packers ended a six-game losing streak, but needed overtime to defeat the New York Jets. The defending champion Seattle Seahawks still cruised with starting quarterback Sam Darnold, upping their…
The NFL season doesn’t end after Week 2, but if your favorite team is off to an 0-2 start, it might feel like it’s over. Historically speaking, you have a reason to feel that way, too. In the last 10 years, only 12 of the 84 teams that have lost their first two games have…
NFL offenses were literally too busy scoring in Week 1 for coaches to have much time for scoreboard watching, but the final numbers were unexpectedly high. A whopping 791 points, or a combined 49.4 per game, were scored in Week 1, matching the most for any Week 1 in the Super Bowl era. “I was…
In the NFL, the public betting masses love nothing more than scoring. And they got plenty of it in Week 1. Fifteen teams scored 27 or more points, led by the Bears, who hung a 59-burger on the Panthers. That’s playing a big role in the mindset for NFL Week 2 odds. “That’s the public’s…
With Week 1 officially over and Week 2 around the corner, Tuesday saw a mix of injury updates across the NFL as teams digested their season openers. Kansas City Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane appears to have avoided a long-term injury after making a big play against the Denver Broncos, while Baltimore Ravens wideout Ja’Kobi…
We waited seven long months for NFL football to return, but a historic Week 1 made the wait well worth it. Records fell across the league as several of the game’s biggest stars delivered unforgettable performances to begin the season. Josh Allen came through when the Bills needed him most, Derrick Henry further cemented his…
Chaos. That’s the only way to describe Week 1 across the NFL, and not just because the superteam Rams went down, down under. Some of the best teams in the league struggled to find their early footing. Meanwhile, the Jets, the Raiders and the Cardinals all won their openers! It has made an absolute mess…
