Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder just keep rolling. Expectations were sky-high after their NBA title run – and they’re not disappointing. The reigning MVP led OKC to a 126-107 road win over the Clippers, sealing the best start in franchise history at 8-0.
Once again, SGA was the engine. He poured in 30 points in three quarters, finishing with 9-of-14 shooting, 4-of-5 from deep, and 12 assists. With that, he moved past Oscar Robertson for 80 consecutive games with at least 20 points, a mark that puts him in elite company.
Head coach Mark Daigneault praised the star’s relentless approach:
His method is built on consistency. Every decision, every habit, comes from the desire to become the best version of himself – and from how much he values family. Every performance starts from discipline, attention to detail, and a routine built on absolute dedication.
Mark Daigneault
Catching Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time record of 126 straight 20+ point games won’t be easy – but as Daigneault noted, Shai’s limits seem nonexistent.
SGA, as usual, stayed humble after the win:
We have every opportunity to prove we can be one of the best teams ever. Everyone starts from 0-0 – what matters is improving game by game. We’re doing a great job of prioritizing our team identity over individual stats.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Off the bench, Isiah Joe added 22 points, while Cason Wallace chipped in 12. Chet Holmgren (11) and Isaiah Hartenstein (10) rounded out a balanced attack.
Next up for OKC: a back-to-back against the Portland Trail Blazers, as the Thunder look to keep their perfect record – and Shai’s historic streak – alive.
