Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have become unstoppable. Over the last 50 years of NBA history, only four pairs of teammates have scored 30 or more points in at least three straight games – and Luka and Austin are now part of that group.
In the Lakers’ 133-121 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, their seventh in a row, Doncic finished with 34 points (plus 12 rebounds and 7 assists), while Reaves added 33.
He could have tied Luka, but after missing his final free throw (he went 11-for-12), he left the duel undecided.
I’ve got to keep Luka’s confidence high. I don’t need to outscore him two nights in a row.
Austin Reaves
Doncic didn’t wait long to fire back:
I appreciate it. I’m gonna go talk to him now and say thank you.
Luka Doncic
That’s just how their relationship works – playful, lighthearted, and when it’s time to win games, they show up at their best. With LeBron James out (resting due to “management of his left foot issue”), the new duo led the Lakers to their seventh straight win, helped by Deandre Ayton’s 22 points and 12 rebounds and Jake LaRavia’s 10 points.
Both central to the Lakers’ climb to second place in the Western Conference (15-4), Doncic and Reaves sit inside the Top 5 of the MVP Race – a testament to their spectacular early-season form.
