It’s a bittersweet win for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 120-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 gives OKC a 2-0 lead in the series, but it was overshadowed by the injury to Jalen Williams, who exited in the third quarter with a left hamstring issue.
Williams initially tried to stay on the court but was eventually forced to head to the locker room, not returning for the rest of the game. It marks another physical setback in a season already complicated by injuries, especially considering his previous issues with the right hamstring.
After the game, sports injury specialist Evan Jeffries provided an initial assessment based on video footage:
Jalen Williams left the game with a left hamstring injury; he’s already had two strains in his right this season. An MRI will determine the severity. Recovery timelines vary: tightness is day-to-day, Grade 1 is 1-2 weeks, Grade 2 is 3-6 weeks

The results of further tests will be crucial in determining his immediate future. In the best-case scenario, Williams could be considered day-to-day and return in the coming games. In a more serious case, however, he could be sidelined until June, missing the entire postseason.
For the Thunder, this would be a major loss. Williams was one of the key contributors to last season’s championship run, establishing himself as the team’s second offensive option behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. This year, despite injuries, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.6 rebounds in 33 games.
A prolonged absence would significantly alter the team’s balance. The big question is: can the Thunder defend their title without one of their most complete players?
