The Golden State Warriors didn’t open the night the right way, but they quickly decided it wasn’t going to end badly. After falling behind 0-11, Kerr’s team flipped the script with a textbook second quarter: a 21-0 run, five threes drained with ease, and a defense that held the Utah Jazz scoreless for nearly six minutes. From that point on, the game only moved in one direction, ending 134-117.

Stephen Curry, as often happens, put his stamp on the game: 31 points in just 29 minutes, shooting 12-of-24 from the field and 6-of-17 from deep.

There was no shortage of support from Jimmy Butler III either, increasingly the glue of a team that keeps surprising. He finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and an impact that goes far beyond the box score. Butler opened the game by sparking the comeback with energy and perfect reads, generating more points for his teammates (19) than for himself.

We were able to answer, we found the offensive rhythm we had been missing. Seeing the ball go through the net helped us get our confidence back. We weren’t locked in at the start and we let Utah heat up by giving up some open threes. Playing without Green, Kuminga and Horford we had to be more aggressive than usual.

Among the teammates who benefited from his playmaking was Buddy Hield, who came off the bench to score a season-high 20 points – eight of them created directly by Butler’s passes. Not bad for a night without Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga and Al Horford.

The win brings the Warriors to 6-1 at home and reminds everyone of a simple rule: when Golden State finds rhythm and confidence, all it takes is a spark – or a 21-0 run – to turn a complicated game into yet another festive night at Chase Center.
